Hey, Phil,

K. Johnson, IMO, is easily your weekly flex play. This week might be an exception. If Riddick is out, then he becomes a little bit more appealing. But, against Minnesota, Blount is likely to get the goal-line work, and rushing yardage is hard to come by. So, this might be the rare week that I don’t lock him into the Flex role.
I’d roll with Howard. He’s now a game-flow RB, and Buffalo profiles as the perfect game for him.
At WR, Watkins is likely to be more inconsistent than some of the others on the list, but he also has the highest ceiling. With Hill a little banged up, he might get some extra looks this week. I’d start him.
In a PPR league, I’d put in Edelman without a second though. Truthfully, he’s probably the safest bet here in a standard league, too. If Gronkowski is out, then he becomes far more appealing. But, I’m guessing that Gronkowski plays, and it’s the Sunday night game. My head still tells me that he’s the smarter play.
My gut tells me to roll with Thomas, though. Houston has no big body at wide receiver to catch the underneath passes, and some random tight end just scored two TDs last week. Even if he’s not up to speed, he could fit the profile of the pass-catcher that has been missing for Watson. It’s a brutal risk starting a player new to a team — it took Josh Gordon a few games to get up to speed in New England, and he’s playing with one of the best quarterback diagnosticians ever. So, if you’re willing to roll the dice, then I’d go with Thomas here.
FLEX: Howard
WR: Watkins, Thomas (possibly Edelman instead if you’re looking for a more reliable floor)
Good luck!
